You may recognize David Matysiak from his fruitful endeavors in some of the city’s most adventurous experimental rock acts (see Hollow Stars, Boating, and Coyote Bones). His involvement with each of these musical projects has lent an ever-curious ear to each band, shaping an output that’s as multi-layered as it is simply raucous. Now venturing into the world of musique concrete, Matysiak has assembled a handful of aural collagists for a new project titled ROAM, an “experimental podcast.” “ROAM IN THE FAMILY: A Scrapbook of Sonic Snapshots” is the eighth episode of the series and is wholly evocative of Matysiak’s diverse interests, hitting a sophisticated crossroads between Negativland’s elusive ephemera, the Residents’ abstract narratives, and NPR’s tear-inducing StoryCorps series.

Moments of utter absurdity float into frame alongside vivid scenes of familial interaction. Deeply personal but entirely relatable, the latest episode packs in nine minutes of nuanced nostalgia produced by nine contributors:

1. Devin Brown
2. Steph Drootin
3. Dereck Higgins
4. Julie Hines
5. Meredith Kooi
6. Ingrid Magnuson
7. Jordan Noel
8. Katie Robertson & family
