Looks like the Plaza’s known for more than those midnight screenings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Two years after new owner Michael Furlinger took over the Ponce de Leon Ave. mainstay, Plaza Theatre’s marquee is still lit. On top of that, Men’s Journal has listed it among the top 20 movie houses in the world, alongside theaters in London, Oslo, Brooklyn, Paris, and L.A. This is year 75 for the Art Deco theater. Listed among it’s notable upgrades are the “plush chairs, gourmet concessions, and digital projection.” But the key to it’s survival has been maintaining its mix of cult classics, like those signature midnight screenings of Rocky Horror Picture Show, with new indie flicks and first-run blockbusters Furlinger’s used his cinema experience to secure to make the Plaza more competitive.
