Ho, ho, ho what the hell is happening?

Events where you can take your photo with Santa Claus are all over the place during the holiday season. Events where you can get your photo taken with Santa while holding your choice of an AK-47, AR-15 or M6 IC? Those are pretty rare.

More than 75 people of all ages came out to the Sandy Springs Gun Range and Club to pose with Santa while holding a weapon. The gun range was accepting donations of cash or non-perishable food items in exchange for having their picture taken. They even received a free magnet with their photo on it.

For me it was a strange experience that left me with a few questions. What do guns have to do with Santa? Are people gearing up for the “War on Christmas?” Are people trying to make a political statement? Or do they just find the idea of Santa and guns hilarious?

I suppose the ultimate irony for me is that people want to take photos of themselves holding self-defense weapons with the ultimate home invader, Santa Claus. For what it’s worth, almost everyone left with a smile.

More photos after the break.
