The year 2015 is right around the corner, and you’re probably confused about where the time went. In nine days some of Atlanta’s largest parties will, in fact, be going down. If you slacked off and didn’t make any plans (kind of like that long lost and forgotten 2014 New Year’s resolution) you’ve still got options:

? ? ?
1. Watch the Peach Drop and fireworks, from above.

For the seasoned local, the Peach Drop at Underground Atlanta might be played-out or simply too much of a headache to attend. However, the Sun Dial’s bar, which sits atop of the Westin Peachtree hotel Downtown, offers a view of not only the Peach Drop, but other firework shows throughout the city. Or, hit up Polaris, the newer high-rise restaurant which also has a choice vantage point and a special New Year’s Eve menu. Both restaurants have a first-come-first-serve policy for the last night of 2014.

2. Live the luxe life in Midtown for a night.

If you’re still willing to thrown down and want to get fancy, the Livingston at the Georgian Terrace hotel and the Fox Theater across the street are both hosting epic and elegant New Year’s Eve parties that are still taking reservations. Livingston, known for its glamorous marble and luminous chandeliers, will have a prix-fixe menu, dance floor and DJ, and a balloon drop with a complimentary champagne toasting. A Cleopatra themed ball will take place at the Fox Theater’s Egyptian Ballroom with a four hour open bar, top 40 hip-hop and house music, and, of course, a countdown.

3. Have kids and no babysitter?

Take the kids sledding at Stone Mountain’s Snow Mountain or to Radio Disney’s Noon Year’s Eve in Smyrna so they can party themselves to sleep nice and early. After, try recreating some of these hot toddies we found around town and snuggle up on the couch to watch the televised countdown of your choice.

4. Just dance.

Edgewood Avenue. The increasingly night-lifey strip will be overrun with dance parties, drink specials, and a horde of Millenials you’ll swear barely look old enough to drink. At Noni’s 9:30 p.m.-1 a.m., Get Lost with Will Fussel of Mood Rings. Mother, of course, will have the dancing, with DJ Chris Devoe and Divine Interface, plus champagne toasts and noisemakers. There’s a 2-in-1 NYE party situation at the Sound Table. The Music Room will have an open bar for four hours and late night bites. Or, hit up the Keep On Movin! dance party in East Atlanta Village. This year, the Basement and Graveyard Tavern are joining forces for the 50’s and 60’s rock and roll, soul, and doo wop dance party complete complimentary midnight shots.

5. Peach Drop it is.

OK, if you do decide to check out the Peach Drop 2015 at Underground Atlanta, take MARTA. This will probably be the smartest decision you make all night. Extra points if you take advantage of the Blue Line and pre-game in Downtown Decatur first. Among others, Paper Plane, Victory Sandwich Bar, Leon’s Full Service, and Brick Store Pub, and Twain’s are all walking distance from Decatur Station. When you’re ready, hop back on the Blue Line and head west to Five Points station and watch that good old peach drop ring in 2015.
