strong>Ryan Catherall, son of chef and restaurateur Tom Catherall, has been tapped as executive chef of Inman Quarter’s Char Korean Bar & Grill, and Shaun Byun will be sous chef. Catherall developed the menu with Char’s chef consultant Jey Oh (Craft Izakya). Char is set to open “the first week of August,” according to Eater

strong>Golden Drops Cafe will fill the former Sobban Korean Southern Diner space on Clairmont Road, according to Tomorrow’s News Today. Proprietor Victor Ramirez, originally from the Dominican Republic, plans to open the “American and Latin coffee bar” next month. Golden Drops will source coffee from the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, and South America and will offer “quality fast food” from those regions.  2011 World Barista Champion Alejandro is slated to appear at Golden Drops’ grand opening.

??The Comet Pub & Lanes, from the team behind Twain’s Brewpub & Billiards, opened on July 15 in the former Suburban Lanes space in Decatur. The retro spot, designed as both a family and late-night destination, features 32 lanes for bowling, a selection of 16 draft beers and 50 bottled beer options, and a “chef-driven food menu” crafted by chef Savannah Haseler of Twain’s.

apper 2 Chainz and Hoodkah Hideaway’s Mychel “Snoop” Dillard will open Escobar Restaurant and Tapas at 327 Peters St. S.W. in Castleberry Hill this summer. 2 Chainz posted on Instagram about the venture, which he plans to turn into “one of the top spots for the upscale and celebrity crowd in the city.”

ail, Colorado-based Moe’s Original Bar B Que will open a second Atlanta location in mid-August at 12020 Etris Road, Suite B-140, in the heart of Roswell. The eatery will have a roughly 100 seats and a menu featuring Moe’s award-winning smoked pulled pork, ribs, wings, turkey, and chicken; unique sauces; and catfish and a shrimp “Moe-Boy” sandwiches.

new Bruster’s Real Ice Cream walk-up location is in the works for the Publix-anchored Cascade Crossing Shopping Center in southwest Atlanta, according to What Now Atlanta. Ruth Coleman, who also owns the Camp Creek Bruster’s location, plans to open the Cascade location roughly eight weeks after the necessary permits are issued.
